A Worship Leader is a lay person who regularly leads public worship under the direction of the Member of the Clergy or other leader exercising oversight of the congregation or other community of faith.
From The Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Church 4.4
Lay Worship Leaders are able to lead daily worship services and Sunday services which do not include the Holy Eucharist. They serve an important role when the priest is ill or on vacation.
The Licensed Worship Leaders at Grace Episcopal Church are involved in many of the special prayer and service groups and are regular communicants of the church on Sunday.
Cinthia Barnes, our postulant for Holy Orders, regularly leads the Ante-Communion. This is the portion of the service prior to the communion service. Cindy often acts as Acolyte, Eucharistic Minister or Lay Reader during the service. She also assists the Rector with Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals.
Rosina Harter, President of our Order of the Daughters of the King chapter, prepares and leads monthly and special services for the Chapter. She also assists with Sunday Worship as a Lay Reader and Eucharistic Minister.
